Frequently Asked Questions
What is DomainKits?
DomainKits is the search and analysis toolkit built on the ABTdomain data pipeline. Search across the full domain lifecycle, from newly registered to expired, across 250M+ gTLD domains, 128M+ ccTLD domains and 1,200+ TLD extensions. Updated daily. Built for humans and AI.
How does domain lifecycle search work?
Domains move through the same stages. When someone registers a new domain, it appears in Newly Registered search, which keeps a 60-day rolling window. The domain is also searchable in Active search for as long as it stays registered. If the owner stops renewing, it enters the Expired stage: grace period, then redemption, then pending delete. Once deleted, it shows up in Deleted search and becomes available to register again.
Is DomainKits free to use?
Yes. The core search tools are free with basic limits. If you need higher search limits, bulk export, or domain monitoring, those are available through paid plans.
Does DomainKits collect domain ownership data?
No. DomainKits tracks what happens to a domain (registration dates, nameserver changes, TLD status) not who owns it. There are no personal data lookups. The platform is designed to be GDPR-compliant.
Can I use DomainKits with AI tools?
Yes. DomainKits is available as an MCP server for Claude Code, Cursor, and ChatGPT. Ask questions in plain language and get detailed analysis back: domain valuation, brand conflict checks, keyword intelligence, buyer discovery, inside your AI workflow.
What happens when a domain name expires?
When a domain expires, it enters a multi-stage process. First comes a grace period (typically 30-45 days) where the original owner can still renew. Next is the redemption period (around 30 days), where renewal is possible but at a higher fee. After that, the domain enters pending delete (about 5 days) and is then released for anyone to register. DomainKits tracks each stage so you can monitor expiring domains and act at the right moment.
How do I find expired domains worth registering?
Start by filtering for domains that match your keyword, preferred TLD, and length. Then look at history: domains with longer registration age and clean safety records tend to hold more value. DomainKits lets you search deleted domains and aged domains with these filters built in, so you can focus on the ones worth grabbing.
How to check domain availability across all TLDs?
Most registrars only check a handful of extensions. DomainKits checks 1,200+ TLD extensions in a single search. Enter your keyword and instantly see which TLDs are available, which are taken, and what each one costs to register. This is useful for brand protection, finding creative alternatives, or discovering niche extensions you may not have considered. Some TLDs are brand-restricted and not open for public registration. DomainKits will show their registration status, but won't provide pricing or registration links for those extensions.
